5.0 out of 5 stars Outskirts of Life 1 Feb. 2011
By Best Of All - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Being a movie soundtrack, there were obvious limits - without getting into a multi-disc collection - that could be achieved in chronicling the crazed life and times of performance artist GG Allin.

The dozen tracks from the stage and studio - along with spoken word pieces from GG, band members, a fan and high school teacher - provide a quality overview on rebellion, individuality and a dangerous refusal to conform to anything that could be considered societal norms. The final track - the acoustic "When I Die" - is intense and disturbing, with some lines seemingly as autobiographical as it got with his songwriting.

An anti-authoritarian until his death on June 28, 1993, GG was prolific in recording and touring....while many will claim these were venues for screams from a tortured soul, they just may have been vehicles for someone who better understood the darkness inside by digging deeper into the abyss and made a personal choice to never turn back.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Must For Any Music Fan! 24 Sept. 1998
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
First of all, please note that the title of the CD is "Hated," not "Hated in the Nation," which is a completely different CD/cassette.
As for "Hated," this is one of my favorite G.G. offerings, and I would recommend it to hardcore G.G. Allin fans (of course, you guys already have it!), as well as to those curious as to what real rock 'n' roll sounds like.
Cuts 1, 5, and 8-11 are all taken directly from the studio album, "Freaks Faggots Drunks and Junkies," but there is always room for these gems on other CDs. "Hated" also features the live version of "Bite It You Scum" (there are over eighty versions of this song available by the way!) from the Space At Chase Show, and the most killer rendition of "Gypsy Motherfucker" that I ever heard. The liner notes say this is from the rehearsal sessions with Dee Dee Ramone, but I have both the cassette and video of these rehearsals, and I am unable to locate it anywhere. Well, at least it's on "Hated"!
This CD also features brief spoken segments from the documentary. You can hear G.G.'s music teacher wonder "why and what for, and what about these excesses?" Hey, teach, the fact is, G.G. is way over your head. You need to learn something about integrity!

1.0 out of 5 stars Forget this CD and locate the video instead! 8 Sept. 1998
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
The soundtrack CD to the amazing Todd Phillips-directed G.G. Allin documentary "Hated" is a compilation of previously released studio tracks and live versions which are virtually indistinguishable from other live G.G. CDs. Aside from a creepy, acoustic cover of Warren Zevon's "Carmelita" recorded specifically for the film, there is nothing about this CD I can recommend. This CD is a poor substitute for the documentary, which is the funniest, most depraved rock 'n' roll movie of all time.
Bottom line: get the video and forget this audio "souvenir".

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent GG primer 12 Mar. 2004
By M. Wittstein - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This would make a good first CD for someone who is just starting to get into the sick, fetid, poop-eating reality that is GG Allin. Probably the closest thing in print to a GG "greatest hits" album, this has songs culled from various times in his career. My only gripes with this album is that it doesn't have the studio version of "Bite it you Scum", and there is nothing from his less-extreme work prior to around 1987.
4.0 out of 5 stars cool 10 July 2004
By Spooky Polka - Published on Amazon.com

this cd is awesome.... its got excerpts from the movie which are annoying once youve already heard them once.... but if you like punk then i'd buy this. Actually just buy"freak faggots drunx and junkies" which is half of this cd anyway.
