This is wonderful atmospheric stuff. There are all sorts of influences here from Pink Floyd to Tangerine Dream. Instrumentally it is superb and the haunting addition of John and Pat McManus on fiddle, low flute and Uillean pipes is magic.Astrid Van Der Veen has a true pure voice which travels nicely with the ebb and flow of the melodies. If you like Adiemus and Enigma, this is well worth a listen,

From the creator of the fantastic Ayreon-albums comes this little jewel of a recording. Atmospheric music for late evenings. Arjen Van Lucassen has shown on his previous records his inspiration from Pink Floyd and similar bands, and this album follows the same path. Beautiful guitars in bottom, and a delightful voice on the top. The only negative thing about this album is that it is too short!

Sure it was Arjen cashing in a bit more on the unbelievable talents of a then 14 year old 10 years later when it became clear Astrid Van Der Veen wasn't going to follow this up.So Arjen, prompted by fans I'm sure added a second disc, mainly of an unplugged radio session they did to promote the original album. As he tries out lots of vocalists for his Aryeon projects,he also dug out some of Astrids versions of them,to give us fans of her voice a further glimpse of what might have been.I wish her well and thank her for what she did, however brief.

An absolutely amazing album. I havnt been lost in an album since Tool's 'Lateralus'. I love how everything just goes together...it really works. Truely a work of art!!

For all those who liked the work from Lucassen, this is an album to own !

Now very hard to find, this first attempt of a gothic / female voiced project is definitely a success. The mastery of the 14 years old singer, the relevance of all the re-arrangements, the global atmosphere...everything falls perfectly into place.

I first heard this amazing music several years ago; a friend had picked it up from somewhere on the net. It has since become one of my all time favourite musical suites. Astrid's voice is beautiful : crystal clear, emotional, fragile yet steely at times. A gift of a voice. The music and lyrics weave a tense story that builds and builds - it's a very visual album full of colour, shadows and flashes of fear and tension. The craftsmanship of the instrumentation, arrangements and production is masterful, weaving folk and rock in a sublime blend that feels like liquid silk running over granite.

Difficult to pigeonhole - and maybe that's why Ambeon are not better known. They bear the mark of true creative talent, and I hope to hear another album eventually. Meantime, there's so much here to enjoy and listen to again and again. A remarkable achievement.
