Simply breathtaking, albeit brief, debut from Part Chimp (formed by Tim Cedar from the ashes from legendary noise outfit Ligament who split a few years back). This record delivers more of the same; a deafening yet soulfully controlled barrage of noise, monster and I mean MONSTER riffs, power guitar tunes that sometimes groove with an intensity that compare with Ligament at their finest. I always struggle in comparing them with most other stuff. The fact that they're on Mogwai's record label doesn't really do them justice as they're no navel gazers. Think Melvins, Black Dice, Atari Teenage Riot, Shellac and more noise noise, noise. This is no metal band and live are as deafeningly beautiful as anything you're ever likely to hear. I can feel my ears bleeding.... Take a chance and feel the noise.

4.0 out of 5 stars Part Chimp find the monolith 8 July 2004
By will holloway - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I was horrified to see that this album received only one star in the reviews of this album i saw! Not only is this album good, its really good! Part Chimp are loud, Very loud and most of the album is a wall of noise which fills you with a thirst for destruction.Part chimp are a wall of sound and louder than an A bomb, this is what rock is about. The stand out track on the album has to be 'hitlers and jews' which features possibly the greatest opening lyrics of any song ever "too many hitlers no enough jews!Too many hippis stealin my shoes" (they don't teach rhyming like that in school anymore).

4.0 out of 5 stars Louder than you! 23 April 2005
By Michael J. Coleman - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Part Chimp is extremely loud. Their sound is somewhat lo-fi roar couple with pretty good hooks . Are the amps exploding? Sure sounds like it. Kind of a sick sounding band. There isn't anything totally new here ,but the execution and the spirit of the "rawk" is intact and moved me.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is Part Chimp? 9 Mar. 2004
By Scott Robertson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Well the folks at Amazon made a humorous mistake and placed the wrong listing of music on the new Part Chimp cd "Chart Pimps". Part Chimp are a loud, contemporary noise band. Please correct this... Scott
