Brian Cox finds a copy of 'Abandon All Life' in his local library. Intrigued by the fantastic artwork on the cover, he takes it home. For the next four days he is missing - many believe he is having a breakdown of some kind, or deeply involved in research. Some even presume he is dead. But this it not what happens. Brian Cox is a physicist, and his brilliant mind has grappled with the incredible ideas of super-heavy neutron stars, and black holes whose intense weight crush the fabric of space-time altogether. In listening to 'Abandon All Life', he has found something infinitely heavier than the eldritch monsters of the cosmic void. He goes missing because the sheer bowl-voiding heaviness of this album took him to a higher plane of metal existence. Later that month, whilst filming a documentary, just after listening to the album for the 4569th time, he takes an antique machete and butchers to death Dara O'Brien in front of the UN Security Council. He is now imprisoned on the high-security wing of Strangeways Prison. Such is the heaviness of Nails, 'Abandon All Life'.

Even though I have owned this CD for a good while ive shied away from reviewing it...why??? Because the Cyanide Christ review is just so damn perfect. Nails are as far removed from mainstream and the norm as could be possible and Mr Christ is clearly not a normal being (his imagination is unparalleled and clearly they are a match made in Narnia or wherever Mr Christ spends most of his time), Im kidding, I couldn't agree more with all the previous reviews this is just so brutally awesome, its like a musical version of being knocked down and run over by a tank. Nails combine everything that is good about Grind with heavy as hell riffs and adds a little sludge here and there, the results are shocking and will leave your ears wondering WTF just happened.
Kurt Ballou has added his touch and it just makes for an unbelievably brutal, brutal offering, I don't know what else to say....I have to go... Im catching a plane to Narnia to meet up with my mucker CC

Surely one of the best and heaviest releases of last year, Abandon All Life grabs you by the throat and forces you to listen to it! This is basically as brutal as it gets and brings to mind the likes of Napalm Death, Pig Destroyer and Nasum as well as Slayer and when they are at their best, for me on Wide Open Wounds and the title track, they also bring the likes of Eyehategod and Crowbar in, such is the pure sludge in the riffs. If you like your metal heavy as hell then Abandon All Life is a must buy!

Its Nails - you know what you're getting. I'm off to put on my para boots and get drunk on cheap cider. Play Loud.

Just like the album, I'm keeping this review short and straight to the point. 'Abandon all life' is every synonym of 'brutal' put in a musical format. The opening track storms along at a relentless pace and howling screams emerge from the murk of the song. The sheer intensity of each track is terrifying; packing in ferocious vocals, blistering riffs and pounding drumming into songs that last less than a minute. The only breaks you get to have throughout this album is the time gap between songs. 'Suum Cuique' constitutes as nearly a third of the album duration alone. The dragging yet still brutal rhythm reminisces the reaction a listener will encounter after listening to this album before bursting alive to unleash hell and leave listeners literally breathless.
