About the Author

Jessica Hemmings is Professor of Visual Culture and Head of the Faculty of Visual Culture at the National College of Art & Design in Dublin. She regularly contributes articles and reviews to various publications including Selvedge, Embroidery, and Surface Design Journal. Jessica is editor of The Textile Reader (Berg, 2012) and In the Loop: Knitting Now (Black Dog, 2010).

Warp and weft is a visual delight of fabulous, inventive contemporary weaving. It includes woven textiles in the varied fields of fashion, interiors and art. It showcases the work of some of the most exciting international designers and reveals a rich woven tapestry of contemporary textiles. Read about the people at the top of their field, their working practice, approach and more. This book has the capability to inspire and is excellent for teachers and students alike. It is an excellent resource for anyone involved in contemporary weaving today no matter where their ultimate interest lie, be it in fashion or art.
