Format: Paperback
Ferlinghetti has a nice lightness of touch, a real lyric poet.He creates vivid pictures in the mind's eye with a musical touch to his phrases, as in this section from "Paris Transformations": "In the closed dark bedroom/with the heavy silk drapes/she throws open/the huge French doors/And the dry white wine of dawn/floods in."

I bought this book after seeing Ferlinghetti speak at my
school in New Hampshire. He was fantastic, and his book is
even more so.

This is poetry both lyrical and strident, turn by turn. I can hear the world of Dylan Thomas shifted to America, but also the rhythms of composers such as Aaron Copeland. Exciting stuff.
