I cannot say enough good things about the "First Favourite Tales" series of fairy tale books from Ladybird. My 2 year old daughter has every single one of them... and "The Three Little Pigs" was the first one that we bought. The pictures are delightful, and every tale has been written in a way that rolls off your tongue when read out loud. My daughter was soon joining in with some of the catchphrases... "I'll huff and I'll puff".... We have now bought the entire range, and we go through each one every night before bedtime. Be warned, some of the stories have been made a little lighter from the way that you remember them... For instance, the Giant in Jack in the Beanstalk doesn't "grind his bones to make my bread"... But, if I were you... I wouldn't just buy one of these. Save yourself extra trips to the internet/shops... and go ahead and buy the whole series straight away. If you only want a few... our favourites are "The Three Little Pigs", "Red Riding Hood", "The Gingerbread Man" and "The Magic Porrige Pot".

Bought this for my 2.5 years old but he wasn't quite ready for it yet as it has long wordings in it.I had to shorten it to capture his attention.
So maybe i will try it after a few months.
The pages were taped up as i bought a used very good condition book.
Wouldn't have ordered it if i knew it would come up taped.

This book for young children has hidden depths. It is a child's first introduction to Building Regulations. Two gorgeous little piggies build houses out of inferior materials (straw and sticks respectively). The Planning Department are notified and send round an inspector in the form of a big bad wolf. He not only demolishes the buildings, but also eats the poor little piggies for his lunch. (try explaining THAT to your children!) The third little piggy, apparantly oblivious of the death of his brothers/sisters, pushes the boundaries of science and builds his house from bricks. The planning inspector, after many attempts to gain entry by the normal methods, is forced to enter via the chimney. Shock, horror, the third little piggie is waiting for him and, fearing a rejection of planning permission, catches the inspector (wolf) and boils him alive in a vat of boiling water. (try explaining THAT to your children!) Amazingly no court case ensues, the third little pig is never charged with murder or made aware of the death of his siblings and lives happily ever after!
Seriously, a great little book by Ladybird, well illustrated and well worth the money. My two year old granddaughter loves it being read to her, particularly the 'Huffs' and the 'Puffs'! Highly recommended.

My two year old daughter loves this book along with all the other books in the series. She wants the stories read over and over again and knows what part of the story is up next. Great stories that will never age as I was reading these tales when I was a boy. Gerat value for money.

Dont know why but expected the book to be bigger than it was. But saying that, the size of the book is ideal for my 3year old son, already placed an order for another book as i want to collect the set for him so i will be ordering the rest asap. Story is different to how i remembered it but my son loves it which is all that matters. A good buy, especially if you want to collect the whole set.

A classic story well written with lovely colourful pictures. A good bedtime read as not too long for little ones. Lovely quality glossy pages. A great price as well so i actually bought 4 from the same series.

Classic story, easy to read and understand and not too long or too short. I bought the entire range of first favourite tales for my 2 year old and she loves them. In fact, after reading other books for the last year my husband was also very pleased we'd bought them as he finds them great to read to her too!! My baby son will also benefit from these when he's older so a great choice. Overall a very happy family and at a great price with great service what more could you ask for.
