Review

A fantastic one-stop guide for taking a proactive approach to your own career management. Clear, insightful and practical these authors know their stuff and it shows. Helpful and motivating in equal measure.
- Susan Gatell, Careers Adviser, Cambridge University

The beauty of this book is that whatever stage you are at in your career, I believe the sound advice and case studies (based on extensive coaching and professional experience) are something that everyone can benefit from. The structured framework covers every aspect from the initial where do I start? to actually getting on the right path and all the relevant steps in between.
- Blair Beavis, Early Talent Manager EMEA, Johnson & Johnson

A thorough, structured and pragmatic overview to career management that covers both the practical aspects of changing careers in our volatile, uncertain world, with the often harder, personal underlying challenges many people have to face and overcome to move forward.
- Stuart Jagot, Director of Career Development at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford

Finally, a book that connects the mechanics of the job search to the critical motivations that should drive the direction of the search. Only by combining these dimensions can a job seeker hope to achieve genuine job and career fulfilment. Arnold and Barrett provide us the impulse and the practical tools to do just that with great flair.
- Nicolas Constantinesco, former Associate Principal at McKinsey and founder of Promeo

Just about everything you need to think about when considering a career change is included in this gem of a career guide ... I recommend this book for both career coaching professionals as well as jobseekers everywhere. --Mary Carey, Regional Director, INSEAD Executive Education; former Global Director, INSEAD Career Development Center

- Brian Marrinan, Former Head of Talent Development E&Y and Managing Partner of Journey Partners

This is a great one-stop-shop of information, insight and resources for anyone looking to reinvigorate their career. Jane and Camilla provide the structured framework to help you to uncover your underlying strengths and interests, but as importantly, the practical steps to help translate those insights into tangible career options. --- Margaret O'Neill, Career Coach, London Business School

Camilla and Jane's approach has helped me to integrate all aspects of my life to help me to grow in confidence and grow professionally. Their snippets of day-to-day wisdom have been invaluable. They draw on stories and examples which are so easy to remember. I used to think this sort of stuff was common sense but it really isn't it's a powerful and accessible tool that I am now recommending to everyone! --- Charlie Howard, Founder MAC UK and The Integrate Movement (TIM), Social Entrepreneur and Clinical Psychologist

I've read other career books but this one really resonates with me because it goes beyond the business world. This book encourages a holistic approach about life and long-term goals which really must be considered if you want to be happy in your job. It also gives suggested exercises to explore career options and practical ways to move things along. That first step can be the hardest in making a change but this book tells you how to go about it.

My favourite parts are the case studies which show what other people have done and how these practices have worked for them. This book inspired me to start my own career change process.

Just what I needed after deciding to do "an about face" on my chosen career. The book gave me the knowledge and confidence to take control of my career and ultimately made me realise that where I am now, doesn't dictate where I will be in the future.
