Product description

Review

A carnival ride through laughter and tears with a bit of time travel thrown in for spice . . . readers will be impatient for later installments -- --Publisher's Weekly, starred review

Danger, romance, history, financial and academic politics, hidden agendas, dangerous assignments, characters you care about, and the feeling that more is going on than you're actually reading about. I can hardly wait for book two. Just One Damned Thing After Another is a true page-turner. -- --SF Revu

Taylor does a great job of setting up an appealing cast of characters in this new series opener, most especially the intrepid Max. There is plenty of humor, lots of action, and even a touch of romance. -- --Library Journal --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

About the Author

Jodi Taylor, International Woman of Mystery, spent some time working undercover for North Yorkshire County Library Service. Heavily disguised as the world's most incompetent Facilities Manager she shifted dead dogs, fell out of mobile libraries, and spent far too much time in the gents' toilets. The idea to re-write history first came to her while studying history A level at an evening class. Just One Damned Thing After Another is her first novel and was originally self-published on ebook where it was downloaded by more than 60,000 readers on Amazon.

Discovered to my delight that the sequel had been published a couple of days earlier than thought and have just finished reading it. It's safe to say that if you loved the first you will also adore the second.

Max and her St Mary's friends continue to rampage their way through the timeline, surviving mostly unscathed (and if there are a few scars ... well, don't boys dig scars anyway?)

As with the first (Just one damned thing after another), I found A Symphony of Echoes gripping and extremely difficult to put down from start to finish. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

It's well worth paying for and having read it on my kindle I now want the paperback for my bookshelf.

To paraphrase Maxwell our heroine, I'm going through these books 'like laxative through a short granny'. Enormously entertaining a historically educational, a fabulous mixture of adventure, emotion and humour. Unputdownable.

This has got to be one of the most fun and entertaining series of books out there at the moment. Bonkers rip-roaring escapism with a wonderfully (and because you like her so much, maddeningly) flawed heroine. I can put these books down.

I stumbled across the first two books of the series on my Kindle. I'm not that into history, but the reviews were good, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. The series has good characters that develop throughout the series. The story line is fast paced and fun. I'm not really a sci fi reader, so a book about time travel wouldn't usually float my boat, but I'm hooked and about to download the next one. Highly recommend!

I have just read book 1&2, now really looking forward to book 3!!!!
The stories are based on such a lovely and clever concept, that could go in lots of directions. You don't need to know the history to enjoy these books.
Decisions decisions, do I find another book? Or dive straight into book 3?

cant wait to read the next ones.
a lot of books don't keep my attention for long enough as the blurb makes them sound better than they are, but these keep me reading all the way through.

These stories are great fun and I love all the characters especially Max and Leon . In this outing the action starts on page one jumping straight into Victorian London and Jack the Ripper; but that's just the beginning there are lots more jumps to lots more times in history and plenty of nail biting escapes.

Another fun instalment of The Chronicles of St Mary's, as good as the first in the series. In which other book would Jack the Ripper and Mary Queen of Scots feature? Great fun. Bring on book 3!
