And to a degree the book delivers solid content based on NLP.
The problem is, the model, presented as a schematic in this book is one of the most unwieldy things I've ever seen. It's just too complicated and too detailed to be any use in helping someone using it to be able to access it unconscioulsy while simultaneously trying to be present in the conversation.
It seems, in an attempt to ensure no part of a communication is left out, the author felt it necessary to include everthing (big chunks and small chunks) so that by the end of the book, you feel even less confident of being able to do the stuff.
So in summary:
If you like talking about how these powerful patterns all may link together then you'll probably still love this book.
If you're actually interested in getting out there and using the patterns then this book will probably be more effective in confusing you.

If you are not familar with NLP then I would suggest reading something a little easier going, like one of the dummies books.
This book goes into the deeper theoretical side of language/framing and it has lots of easy to do exercises to show how to practically apply the information.
This book is a must read if you are somebody who has struggled to apply NLP to real life situations, its the meat and potatoes of NLP all under one roof. The paradigm shifts in the book are addictive!
I recommend that you create a word documment on your computer with a template with all the patterns on for you to fill in the gaps. After re framing lots of your own limiting beliefs you will start to become more skilled in the patterns (your own mental well being will improve as well). After several months of doing a few a week you will be a real expert and will have a lot more flexibility in your persuasion skills and shifting your own thinking patterns.
The book is an excellent work of reference for when you are stuck trying to come up with an effective reframing pattern. The other similar book on this subject that I would recommend is Mindlines by Michael Hall. Both books are essential reading on the subject

I found this an interesting book, but it is not seminal, - it's a reworking of known NLP ideas (but none the worse for that). There are some helpful new perspectives. Read morePublished on 11 Mar. 2013 by Dr Peter
