The recipes are clear and easy to follow, with interesting historical trivia dotted throughout the book. I found it a fascinating read and a useful cookbook.
If I had any complaint, it would be that I'd want more recipes!
Also, there are no serve amounts with the recipes, so some grasp of how much food you want to make is needed. I personally played around a little with some of the amounts in the recipes, due to ease of cooking. If you are planning to use it for a party, like I did, I suggest trying the recipes beforehand in order to know how much food is produced in servings.
