About the Author
DWIGHT L. MOODY (1837-1899) was a highly acclaimed late 19th century evangelist. He founded the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago in 1886 and the Bible Institute Colportage Association, now Moody Publishers, in 1894. From training women, to reaching out to lost children, to bridging the gap between denominations, D.L. Moody was unlike any other. He is author of a number of books including Christ in You, Heaven, Men God Challenged, and Spiritual Power. His life is also chronicled in A Passion for Souls: The Life of D.L. Moody by Lyle Dorsett. He and his wife, Emma, had three children.

"When I was converted, I made this mistake: I thought the battle was already mine, the victory already won, the crown already in my grasp. I thought....that my old corrupt nature, the Adam life was gone. But I found out, that after serving Christ for a few months, that conversion was only like enlisting in the army, that there was a battle on hand, and that if I was to get a crown, I had to work for it and fight for it." The Overcoming Life' D. L. Moody, P19 -20, Chapter 1
'The Overcoming Life' was written three years before Moody's death to encourage Christians in their spiritual warfare against sin, self and the world. Biblical truths are communicated in a simple, practical way supported by relevant illustrations from real life experiences.
Within 7 chapters, Moody covers the issues of Christian warfare; the truth of God's Word and His impending judgement; the importance of humility; the quality and outworking of true wisdom; the results of true repentance; the Rest that the Lord gives to His people; and in the final chapter, the wonderful 7 'I Wills' of Christ, covering Salvation; Cleansing, Confession, Service, His Comfort; Resurrection; and Glory.
This book and in particular the chapter entitled "Come thou and all thy house into the Ark", was pivotal in my conversion experience. It remains a much revisited firm favourite. Highly Recommended.
"...and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith." 1 John 5:4
