Having read only Hickman's Secret Warriors for Marvel and really enjoyed the take on the darker side of the Marvel Universe I found this in Forbidden Planet Birmingham and asked 'What is it'? and no one knew so For future reference.
Is it worth buying yes, This is a very well researched and presented book.
The art style is very different unique almost.
The book is a look at the idea of TV news and how as our main medium for finding out about the world outside.
The book is very much an anti political agenda within the news book.
In conclusion for a book that makes you think Pick this up. On a side note check out Hickmans other work

4.0 out of 5 stars Johnathan Hickman does not like drawing eyes 24 Dec. 2016

This is a great book. Intricately woven plots criss cross over a Tarantino style timeline, and it's rich with conspiracy and treachery.
It certainly has the most unusual page layouts I've ever seen, there's little in the way of traditional sequential art, maybe one or two 9 panel grids in the whole book. Occasionally the flow of dialogue is awkward and hard to follow. And Hickman's signature trick seems to be blacking out the eyes. Other than a few small gripes there's really nothing quite like a good Hickman book so check it out if you like well constructed conspiracy plots a là fight Club or network.
4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best creator owned books I've ever read. 19 Jan. 2013

I heard a lot of hype about this book and it definitely stood up to all of the positive reviews. This book is intuitive, funny, dark, and will really make you think.

I would recommend this book to anyone who reads Hickman's stuff.

The one thing that I disliked is the art style. A little of it is good but if you read a lot of the book at one time the art becomes a bit overwhelming. This is more of a novel, with 'pop art' thrown in, not really a graphic novel. The art merely sets up the atmosphere, other than that Hickman's story does the rest, and it is terrific.
5.0 out of 5 stars Deep, dark and very well done. 3 Feb. 2014

I don't want to give a lot away as I bought this knowing only that it was critically acclaimed and man am I glad. Boy, was it a wonderful ride of a read. Do yourself a favor and pick it up as it's a great price, the art is stellar, the story is gripping and you will be like me after it's done, you'll want to read it over again and check out Mr. Hickman's other work too.

5 stars!

Freaking crazy- that about sums up this comic about a terrorist group out to destroy the news media. In between acts of violence and mayhem it also provides fascinating stats of the nature of the people that bring us our news that reminded me of the credits to The Other Guys. It'll fill you with ire, but not in a way that calls for you to mimic it's ... well, protagonists is not the right word, so I'll just say leads. Quite a read.
5.0 out of 5 stars Revolutionary. Inspiring. Groundbreaking. 17 Jun. 2009

I purchased Nightly News after reading a GQ article about the best GN's to read. I have always been a comic reader, and for me, the original Star Wars, the Phoenix saga Byrne/Claremont X-Men, Age of Apocalypse, and Preacher were the comics that blew my mind and were a huge inspiration. Oh, there was another story that begins with a "W", but that one goes without saying. Anyways, I will not attempt to summarize Nightly News, but will just compare it to classics & masterpieces such as Godfather, Usual Suspects, The Shining, Scarface......it's just that good.
