It could have used some proofreading, but all of the problems are form, not content. On the content, it delivers, and it's a must in the category!

My expectations for this book were high, and they were exceeded by what is a superb insight into observation, human behaviour and memory. It shows you that by just being aware of what is going on around you, you can know information about people and events which would, to other people, seem impossible. I would have payed the asking price for the chapter on memory alone. Thanks to ben I don't look at peoples shoes, clothes or handshakes, in the same way as I did a week ago. If you only buy one book this year make it this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This book certainly needs no recommendation from me, as it’s done very well on its own already. I’m sure there have been other books that approach this type of subject before – using one’s observational skills to be able to determine things with certainty about another person. But what makes this book more useful, and infinitely more fun, is that it teaches one how to do this from a Sherlockian Baseline.

Mr. Cardall, a professional magician and mentalist, recounts how he discovered the Sherlock Holmes Canon. At the beginning of the book, he explains how he was unofficially diagnosed with Ataraxia, thus explaining how he is unencumbered by typical emotions, allowing him to process information and make deductions with greater ease. This “super-power” has allowed Mr. Cardall to develop observational skills along the lines of Mr. Holmes, something that he continues to develop every day.

The information in this book is too vast to boil down into a single review. The book, over 400 pages of it, is more than simple tricks or memory exercises. It relates psychological “tells”, motivations, and behaviors, representing many different aspects of deduction and memory. And then there are the practical parts as well – telling us what to make of different types of tattoos, scratches upon one’s hand, or accents and dialect. These are the very things that Mr. Holmes would have worked so hard to learn (or develop) on his own when he was first learning his craft in those long-ago Victorian days. Luckily, the rest of us now have this book, Mr. Cardall having done all the hard work for us.

There are days when I feel like I’m on point, and that I can make some deductions about the person in front of me when I go to buy coffee – but I’m no Holmes.

Have you ever heard of The Deductionist? You have now. In a nutshell, Ben Cardall embodies the closest thing you'll find to a real life Mr Holmes in his work as not merely a mentalist, but as The Deductionist, and you get an uncanny feeling that he may even be possessed by the spirit of Sherlock. I've encountered his work before (check out the web series on YouTube), and when I heard this book was coming out... ye gods. Yes. I *so* want to learn how to do that. Also, my copy is signed :)

There is so much information in here. Memory techniques, including the real way to make a Memory Palace. Reading people through their expressions. Body language. This is just the first part of the book... the rest is just as awesome but you need to take your time and absorb. Read it multiple times and get to know the techniques and actually do it. Maybe buy a second copy 'cos you'll probably wear out the first one.

It'll take practice. If you want it, you'll put that practice in. But this book could teach you to be great :) Your choice.

The monographs is a book like no other in fact it is more of a manual than a
book, with in the pages is a comprehensive guild to becoming “a Deductionist”
or Batman without all the fancy gadgets.

Ben is as close to a real life Sherlock Holmes as you will find anywhere on this
planet, he starts the book describing how and why he became hooked on
learning and recreating the skills of Sherlock, by the time you are even half way
through the book you can see he has not only learn but mastered most if not
all the traits and skills which would make Sir Arthur Conan Doyle himself
proud.

If you have ever wanted to have the ability to read people or to know what has
happened in a particular room then look no further than this book, there is a
saying in martial arts “Preoccupied with a single leaf you won't see the
tree.” Takuan Soho

This is how most of us live our Daly life’s and when we see something amazing
like what Ben can do we think he has a gift, once you start this book you will
soon realise Ben’s gift is his ability to teach the skills he has developed over
years of dedicated practice.

This book will teach you to be more aware of everything around you from the
cloths people wear and what they mean, to the type of pet they own from the
strand of hair you see and were on the body it is found, as well as this you will
learn how to improve your memory with different practice tools and guidance
of memory palaces win which to store the new information you will obtain
from your practice.
