Funny how you buy a book to understand God's proper ordering for marital relationships and what I have found is far more expansive . A greater appreciation for every human being .Trust God .People are not tools to be used , but valuable in their own right. This book has overturned so many misconceptions I have absorbed . No, this book is not easy to read . Some days I manage a page or a paragraph but I would rather a hard correct book rather than an easy commentary from the viewpoint of another who is not the author..

Theology of the Body is one of the greatest legacies Blessed John Paul II could have left the Catholic Church. By going back to Scripture, including the creation of man and woman, but also through the Gospels, John Paul II weaves a beautiful tapestry of life, love, sex and the real meaning of the body that reveals much about God's plan for humanity. This is a theological masterpiece.

However, for those not theologically minded, it's worth noting that it's not light reading. If you're new to Theology of the Body, and especially if you're new to theology, Christopher West is an incredible author who has has written works that make Theology of the Body easier to understand - like Theology of the Body Explained: A Commentary on John Paul II's 'Gospel of the Body', which is a very large book that you can read as a companion to Theology of the Body, or Theology of the Body for Beginners: A Basic Introduction to Pope John Paul II's Sexual Revolution, which is an excellent book for people who want to find out what this amazing topic is all about.

But if you do like a challenge, it's an incredible read and well worth the density!

A phenomenal work of theology relating to the most fundamental aspect of humanity - marriage and the relationship between man and woman. The book comes with a fantastic introduction which breaks the entirety of the wealth of the theology of the body into an easy-flowing and understandable narrative before providing the reader with the full text of the papal work. This contribution of John Paul II to not just treasury of the theology of the Church as a whole, but also to civilisation in general, is sadly underestimated and underappreciated. Absolutely recommend this to anyone interested in the topic - utterly revolutionary and profound.

an excellent book. The introduction from Michael Waldstein is brillant, very rich. It helps to enter in the Theology of the body, how St John Paul the second organised it, thought of it. Also the structure of the book is amazing, really helpfull

I count myself as reasonably intelligent, and well educated. But Pope John Paul II's book is incredibly dense. Unless you have degrees in theology, philosophy and anthropology, I suspect you too will struggle.

Also, Christopher West has done a marvellous job in making this teaching accessible. I highly recommend the introductory book, "Theology of the Body for Beginners," and his more detailed work, "Theology of the Body Explained."

I don't recommend this book.
