as with most of the klutz and chicken socks stuff, simple ideas beautifully presented in a fun way. The materials are lovely & good quality; an inspiration to be creative. The ideas are nothing new, but are put together in such a lovely package. The kids need little help in getting going; great for those days when you need to set them up with something fun to do without spending ages trying to find all the bits and pieces to do a craft (finding that one essential bit is missing). This chicken socks version is great for the littler ones where cutting out circles and fancy shapes out of tissue paper then pushing them onto a pipe cleaner without it all falling to bits can be a bit tricky.
And makes a great party gift - something for under £5 that's not polly pocket or yet more stationary!

I love all Klutz products, they make such attractive and creative books. This makes about 8-10 flowers but has suggestions on how to continue when the included materials have been used. It includes such beautiful pre-cut leaves and flowers that it is easy to make something looking nice. A 5 year old needs little help showing what to do (i.e. read the clear instructions). The materials are simple, pipe cleaners and pretty pre-cut paper, and by it self perhaps not good value, but few of us would have the ideas or know how to present it so attractively that all girls between 3-8 want to start making flowers.

Another great kit from Klutz. Take care that you use the petals singly - they are clearly cut in stacks which means they tend to come out of the pile as a group of two or three looking like one. Creasing the petals as in some of the illustrations makes the flowers more lifelike. My 6yr old went through quite quickly, but an older child would take more care and time over it. She enjoyed being able to make her Granny a posy of flowers. Some illustrations of other ways of making flowers at home were included, which encouraged my daughter to use some materials we had at home (paint, card, fabric, straws) to make flowers and a "plant".

As usual with Klutz everything was included and my 6yr old was able to get on with the kit at her Grandparents house on Christmas day without much help or mess. What more can any parent ask?

I bought a few of these books for a grls' workshops (all the girls between 8-12) and they all absolutely loved them. You can make quite a few flowers, and you have a lot of examples to choose from.
A good value for money. I recommend for all these rainy holiday afternoons when boredom starts settling in. The girls (and even the smaller boys) will be kept occupied for hours and they are not too difficult to make. Better shared with friends if possible.

Make your own Paper Flowers was HUGELY disappointing. By far the worst KLUTZ book I have ever seen. There are only a few flowers that you can make with the materials provided but not many, and hardly and instructions on how to do them. And probably most annoying is that they show you other flowers you can make with materials from home, but they don't tell you how to do it. You can find better. KLUTZ can do better.
