This is my second review of Magnum Cycling. I've deleted the first because, on reflection, I think it was a little harsh and didn't properly reflect my opinions. This is an excellent book and has given me a great deal of enjoyment. I bought it foremost because I'm a lover of photography and a keen follower of the agency, Magnum. I'm also a daily cyclist, but I very rarely read anything about the sport. My first review criticised some of the captions for an absence of historical facts. I think that was unfair - an injustice to the author. On the whole, the book strikes a very good balance - it's worth having for its wonderful imagery, as well as its well-written and informative text. It's as much a document of social history as it is of cycling. I only wish I could have accompanied Guy Andrews when he was given access to the Magnum archives. I'm sure I'd still be in there.
