Excellent book with up to date information and great recommendations! The best day I had on my recent trip to Paris was the day when I decided to just follow one of the (many) itineraries suggested in this book, it took me to a hidden gem of a cafe and showed me a more hidden part of the beautiful city.
I like the way the book is organised into each arrondisement and what is in them.
Also it's quite compact and easy to chuck into a handbag while you're out and about, and even comes with a removable map of the city AND metro map!

I was reccommended this book from a friend as she said she likes the fact it has a pull out map. It splits the area up into different areas and offers places to eat or drink around that area. It also has suggestions of shops, cafes and how much things are likely to be which is great for forward planning! Would buy lonely planet again in a heartbeat.

The pull out map at the back was great! We relied on it heavily to locate the nearest Metro stations whenever we got lost walking. HOWEVER the book does need to be updated as Moulin Rouge, one of the most photographed icons in Pigalle Paris wasn't listed on the map, but the raunchy museum up the road, was. It was also closed for business and had been for quite some time. I wish it had a section in there for cheap eats as most of the Bistros in Paris are actually very expensive, as is the coffee. This is an important tip we wish had been in the book. Also, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere, possibly in the book, that most toilets in France are the old-style turkish toilets and so you need to make sure you relieve yourself at major attractions. This isn't true. Mcdonalds and McCafe's didn't charge (we were eating in there anyway) and the Five Guys on Champs Elysees didn't charge. Whenever we did have to pay, it wasn't more than a Euro and it was about as clean as you'd expect them to be at your average railway station in the UK - just make sure you've got some change on you and you know where to go if you need the toilet. This is stuff tourists need to know and it needs to be in the book.

This is a perfectly sized little guide book and is split into useful sections. If you're looking for more underground, "local" knowledge, this probably isn't the guide book for you, as it mainly pinpoints all the main tourist attractions. Plus the map only covers the centre of Paris, it doesn't even reach to Belleville (where I'm staying). But it's still super useful for a short stay. I'm very happy with it.
