Review

The first book I ever read was God Smuggle by Brother Andrew. The impact of that book remains with me today. I'm sure that Light Force will have the same impact on many. An incredible story that teaches us much about love & faith, boldness and compassion. (Mike Pilavachi)

'It is imperative that Christians in the West seek understanding of the crisis in the Middle East. This amazing book explains and illustrates like no other the conflict - political and spiritual - and its devastating effect on human lives.'

(Steve Chalke MBE)

'I know no one with more experience of the persecuted Church than Brother Andrew. This book is a passionate call for Christians to engage the issue of the Middle East.'

Steve Gaukroger

(Steve Gaukroger)

'This riveting page-turner goes behind the news stories of conflict in Lebanon, Israel and the Palestinian territories, to the ideological and spiritual struggles that underlie them. Brother Andrew courageously stirs up the demoralised churches and Christian leaders caught up in the maelstrom, and dialogues with top representatives of the PLO and Hamas terrorist organisations, seeking to place Bibles in their hands and the true Gospel in their hearts.

'The result is a uniquely personal, moving, and provocative account of the ugly rise of militant Islam, suicide bombers, and the implacable hatred and fear on all sides of the conflict, yet it is full of empathy for all the victims, especially the suffering Palestinian Christians . It addresses the challenges facing God's people today, and is guaranteed to unsettle many entrenched positions as it points the way to true and lasting solutions, namely, a strong and vigorous Church bearing witness to a strong and powerful Saviour who alone can bring peace to the world'.

I seriously recommend this book to anyone who like me watches the news and feels confused and hopeless about the Middle East. The political situation from around 1948 is explained clearly in a very readble way with witness accounts. This book is not a political book but rather the unfurling of a vision for peace in the midst of conflict. It is extremely exciting to catch this vision of love, reconciliation and forgiveness as you read and I feel my own heart is changing towards the whole situation. All that troubles me in the news today is transcended by the bigger picture you are given in this book. Go on read it - you won't regret it... this is a seriously important book for our times...

Brother Andrew, who is famous for taking bibles into Eastern Europe when it was Communist and wrote 'God's Smuggler', has also done a lot of visit to the Middle East. This book recounts these visits and the people he met, Arabs, Palestinians and Jews. It shows the power of God's love and the difference that can be made by bringing His values to this troubled part of the world. An excellent read for anyone interested in the troubles of the Middle East, particularly concerning Israel and Palestine. Brother Andrew helps us to see a path through the polarised views that many hold regarding the peoples in this region, bringing God's heart of love and grace into the situation.

A great, highly readable book, often very vivid, describing the author's adventures in the Middle East, particularly relating to Gaza, and explaining some of the reasons behind the breaking-point tensions. Even in today's setting, it holds out a reason to hope for better things to come, by the grace of God.
