A fabulous book which I saw advertised by Mike Deakin on one of his youtube films. I was glad I bought it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected... 6 Jan. 2015
By Jessica - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I bought this book expecting it to give some kind of prompt and ideas. Although the book hosts awesome artwork, it doesn't really push or inspire me as much as I hoped. More of a Q&A from an artist on their journal entry.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a real Kickstarter for sure! 17 Dec. 2015
By S. Warfield - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I absolutely love art journals. I must have just about every art journaling book that is in print. But I haven't yet started my own out of pure fear. That white paper page grows legs and a voice that dances around and says, "Nah, nah, you can't do this and do it perfectly." Then I got this book and on page 27, down in the right corner there is a quote that says, "The illusion of perfection is the enemy of happiness and creativity." That is the truest thing I've heard all day. I even dog-eared the page and I never dog-ear lovely books such as this one.

What astounded me was a photo of a two-page example from artist Belinda Spiwak. It is done on a lined paper notebook and is titled "Evidence/Gecko." On the right page several pages are torn off at differing lengths and what look like stamps or stencils of three geckos are placed on that page. On the left page different light colors swirl and at the outer edge is either stamped or stenciled, "Evidence." with deep red and orange and green colors used. I read about it and the artist made and used it as inspiration for her fifth graders' own journals. The book is full of examples and prompts.

I think this book has inspired me to just start and not worry so much about the outcome.

3.0 out of 5 stars Title is misleading 30 Jan. 2015
By Jennifer Geldard - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Beautiful book, but the title is a misleading. Giving it only three stars, for that reason. It is simply pages from other artist's journals with short interview questions. Inspirational, for sure, but not classic prompts in the sense that there are ideas to "kickstart" your own work. Not a good title for this book, as I was hoping for more of an interactive or instructional book. If you're looking for a collection of beautiful works, then yes, it's lovely.

2.0 out of 5 stars Was quite disappointed. I felt it was just one more book ... 13 Jan. 2017
By More Art - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Was quite disappointed. I felt it was just one more book on Artists Journal Pages, and nothing more. Nice pages, but nothing to kickstart or prompt anyone, in my opinion. Was expecting more, unfortunately. Two stars.
