Product description

About the Author

M.G. (Maria Guadalupe) Harris was born in Mexico City but moved to England as a young child. Before becoming a writer, M.G. worked as a scientist and ran an Internet business. On regular visits back to Mexico, M.G. became fascinated by Mayan archaeology and made several trips to Mayan ruins in Yucatan and Chiapas. One such trip planted the seed of the idea for The Joshua Files. While recovering from a skiing accident that resulted in a broken leg, M.G. began writing Invisible City, the first book in the Joshua Files series, on a laptop next to the bed. M.G. is also the author of GERRY ANDERSON’S GEMINI FORCE ONE. She writes for young adults as M.G. Reyes. When not wandering around the exotic settings for her novels, like Mexico, Brazil and the Swiss mountains, M.G. and family live on a quiet street in Oxford www.mgharris.net

Wow,

i am a major fan of all things Harry Potter, Alex Rider and Percy Jackson but this book (and it's sequels) puts those to shame!!!!!!!(tho i still love them!)

I love this book. Not only does it grip you, and keep you on edge, it ends on a cliffhanger... (What next...?) When I first picked up the book, I thought, "I know how this is gonna end...", but I was so wrong!
M.G. Harris has a unique writing style that keeps you thinking and tense.
Thank you so much!

An amazing, thrilling book with plenty of twists and turns not as good as harry potter but good. Has a slight dip of excitement during the middle but jumps right up. Reccomened for teens and above.

I won't enter into the debate comparing the Joshua Files to the Bourne movies - the key point is that this book is an absolutely brilliant read in its own right. Actionwise, it starts strong, builds, and then takes off with the kind of page turning intensity which makes you want to skip meals and read all night. 'Read page 37', instructs the back cover - believe me, on page 37 we're barely into second gear; it's good, but it gets a whole lot better.

I'll repeat the observations of other reviewers here and comment that all this action is deftly balanced with an exceptionally strong characterisation. The result is that it isn't just exciting to accompany Josh on his adventures - we actually understand him and care what happens to him all the way through. My eleven year old daughter, not a pure action or sci fi fan, is riveted by the power of the emotional story.

Another perfect balance is achieved in the level of challenge the book presents to the reader. Of course there's the code woven into the book, and the prizes offered on the book's website for cracking that. Beyond this there are enough ideas and information thoughout to spark the curiosity of the most active mind. It's easy to find the Author's website and begin one's own fascinating exploration of Mayan mysteries. At the same time the writing style is so direct and accessible, that even a reluctant reader can just relax and enjoy the simple thrill of the story.

Finally, I have to mention the slip cover. It's not often one gets a 'wow!' reaction just from walking around holding a book. Honestly, go and look at one in a shop. Buy one now, for yourself or your kids, and be the envy of all.

Format: Paperback
Last Joshua had heard from his father, he was in Mexico searching for an ancient codex believed to contain key information regarding the 2012 Mayan Prophecy foretelling the end of the world.

Now, his father has been reported dead in a mysterious plane crash. Believing his father's death was probably not an accident, Joshua flies across the Atlantic to investigate. There he runs into unknown relatives, shady American intelligence agents, a secret society, and a living Mayan city.

Who can Josh trust? What really happened to his father? Will he get home alive?

INVISIBLE CITY is a great action-packed adventure. The background information for the book is presented well. The characters are well-developed., and the plot is superbly spun by the author. The mystery is intense and keeps readers on their toes.

Those who like fantasy, adventure, science fiction, history, and mystery will all enjoy reading this book.

This book is really good. If you like adventure with a touch of history this is the one for you. It takes a while to start up but you need to believe in it. If you like this other stories that are adventure/action with histiry in it are: Percy Jackson and Kane Chronicles. These are both extremely interesting. This book is a book with something for everything: hint of romance, humour and lots of action. I highly recommend it for everyone.
