Martin's first fantasy epic Ýis set¨ well above the norms of the genre."" --Locus "on "A Game of Thrones" "Martin amply fulfills the first volume's promise and continues what seems destined to be one of the best fantasy series ever written."" --The Denver Post "on "A Clash of Kings" "Here, he provides a banquet for fantasy lovers with large appetites."" --Publishers Weekly "on" A Clash of Kings" "The major fantasy of the decade...compulsively readable."" --The Denver Post "on "A Storm of Swords" "We have been invited to a grand feast and pageant: George R. R. Martin has unveiled for us an intensely realized, romantic but realistic world...If the next two volumes are as good as this one, it will be a wonderful feast indeed."" --Chicago Sun-Times "on "A Storm of Swords" "Martin makes a triumphant return to high fantasy...Ýhis¨ trophy case is already stuffed with major prizes Ýbut¨ he's probably going to have to add another shelf, at least."" --" "Publishers Weekly "on "A Feast for Crows"

""The Ice Dragon" brims with the magic and beauty of Martin's velvety rich prose. [...] Audiences of all ages will be enchanted by the fantastic delivery of this timeless tale of heroes and dragons, the strength of a family, and the coming-of-age of a very special girl. It is a great book to share." --"VOYA"

"[T]his fantasy is a slim but rich introduction to the genre, one that should appeal to both boys and girls."
--"School Library Journal"

"A must-buy for all Martin fans." --"SFRevu
""Like the type, Royo's lush ink-and-wash illustrations are all set in blue, heightening the icy feel. They sprawl across spreads, complementing the generously leaded text and providing ample resting place for readers' eyes. Despite the war and destruction, this is very much a children's story, told in a distantly folkloric tone that evokes the stylings of Jane Yolen. Adult fans will find neither gore nor sex, but kids will find an evocative original fairy tale with an unexpectedly complex protagonist." --"Kirkus Reviews"

A very short ( compared to the usual fire and ice series) book. It was very pleasant of a girl and her new ice dragon friend, but what I loved the most was the art. The cover and the chapter illustrations.
