"Fresh and intriguing, with characters so real I ached for them. I loved I Found You" (Clare Mackintosh)
"I’ve never read a book by Lisa that I didn’t love. In this case, I ended up reading the whole thing in a day which is always a pleasure, and makes you feel as if you’ve had a little holiday from your own life." (Jojo Moyes)
"I LOVED I Found You. A proper thriller with wonderful characters." (Sabine Durrant)
"Lisa Jewell just keeps getting better. I thought nothing could top The Girls, then along came I Found You. Three separate strands, three very different characters with one dark mystery at its core. With another writer, I would be trying to solve the mystery by chapter two, but Lisa’s books are so deliciously immersive, like a warm scented bath, you don’t want to jump ahead to find out what happened, preferring to lie back and let the story wash over you. The plot of I Found You is gripping and compelling but, as always with Lisa. it’s the characters that drive the book. With the possible exception of Anne Tyler, I can’t think of another writer who so gets to the heart of what it is to be human, in all humanity’s flawed decency. I Found You is a wise, compassionate, gripping tale by a storyteller who totally gets people - acting well and acting badly, but mostly muddling through trying our best." (Tamar Cohen)
"I Found You is exciting, entertaining and a crackingly good read … Lisa Jewell knows exactly how to drip feed information that compels the reader to want to read more and more and I found myself unable to put the book down … A perfect read. This is the first time I’ve read one of [Lisa’s] books but it certainly won’t be the last." (Linda’s Book Bag)
Two women, twenty years of secrets and a man who can't remember lie at the heart of Lisa Jewell's brilliant new novel.See all Product description

In Surrey Lily Montrose is getting very worried. Her husband of three weeks, Carl, who you can usually set your clock by, has not returned from work. The police are not unduly worried and call by to collect his personal effects so that they can begin checking him out. As time goes by with no clues to Carl’s disappearance, Lily is surer than ever that something sinister has happened. She is insistent that something is wrong. When the police tell Lily that her husband has a false passport she phones his mother, who she has not yet met but has spoken to on the telephone, and is extremely puzzled when the lady who answers the phone denies all knowledge of Carl. Lily enlists the help of a friend of Carl’s and begins investigations of her own, hoping she will be able to find out what has happened to Carl.
In 1993 Graham and Kirsty are on holiday with their parents once again, staying in Rabbit Cottage. The family are having a day on the beach when they meet Mark who is staying in the family seaside holiday home.Read more ›
I Found You is a marvel. Right from the first page I felt I was a secret party to a story of many lives unfolding in a brilliant style that Lisa Jewell masters. It made me wonder what I would do if I found a man on that beach – man like ‘Frank’ as Alice’s family name him. What would I do if my husband disappeared like Lily’s.
Even though they do not know it for good part of the book, the lives of Frank, Lily, Carl and Alice are intricately intertwined and come to a head when secrets are revealed and memories are restored. Lisa makes you wait for it, only hinting a little and not giving much away throughout the book, but in such a skillful way that you just keep going, enjoying every word on every page.
I love Lisa’s writing. Her books are always interesting and this one perhaps darker than others I have read, but all the more intriguing all the way to the end.
Again I applaud Lisa for her great skill in taking me on a journey I did not want to end.
Thank you to Lisa and TBC for sending this beautiful book to me in return for this honest opinion.
This story is cleverly put together and reaches its climax about 90 % through, with a gentle tying up after, of loose ends. Is it Romance, is it Thriller? Id say it was neither, Id say it was a good old fashioned story, that needed to be told. Maybe more of a Mystery thing. But then again Lisa likes to write about mysteries being solved. So in that sense its worth the money to buy it. I dont think you can categorise the genre that this book falls into apart from saying its fiction. And cleverly thought out fiction too. Certainly as I type this at 3 am, having started the book at 11.30 pm I obviously thought it was worth the insomnia.
I loved curling up with this one and enjoyed the characters and their flaws (esp Alice).
Read it, it's fab :)
Is it a thriller? Is it women’s lit? The publisher leaves it to the reader to decide – but is evidently swaying toward thriller with the new cover.
I am not a fan of pigeon-holing a book, saying that it must be this or that, and what I really loved about I Found You is that the book is bigger than genre conventions, than attempts to write to formula. The book works as a story with heart, with likeable, true-to-life characters – but it also works as a gripping thriller that keeps you turning the pages (even long after you should have put the lights out and gone to sleep).
I admit it was the promise of mystery and thrill that attracted me to the book (thanks to the superbly crafted blurb), and the book certainly delivered. The backstory that slowly unfolds is dark and compelling, and the dual mysteries of who (who is the man on the beach, ‘Frank’?) and where (where has Alice’s husband gone?) kept me guessing for a good while. I was surprised to find that the author really had me convinced by her plot; usually, I am a little sceptical about stories relating to amnesia.Read more ›

Fabulous new thriller. Keeps you guessing as two stories run side by side. The characters have a real depth to them, and that's what set this book apart. Read morePublished 12 hours ago by Mrs T
I enjoyed this book, perhaps the first half, more than the second, as you figure it out at that point, and the rest is just the tying up of loose ends. But a good read.Published 15 hours ago by Kindle Customer

Having never read a book by this author I was very impressed.
Started reading and couldn't stop til I finished it, to me that's as good as a book gets!
A lovely book gripping until the end. Very believable characters and enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end.Published 2 days ago by Christine D.
I love Lisa Jewells books and this, in my opinion, is her best yet. No need to summarise the plot as its already been done here, but I honestly had to limit the amount that I read... Read morePublished 2 days ago by AliTw8
