Product description

About the Author

After graduating from Wadham College, Oxford, Glenn Martin started a career in the City. Over 34 years he worked for a number of financial institutions. For the latter part of this career he worked as Chief Information Officer for investment banks. In 2004 he won the Banking Technology Award for the Best IT Operational Achievement. As a successful private investor, in 1994 Glenn developed a system for calculating the intrinsic value of the FTSE 100 and of individual UK shares. When the system proved reliable, he established ShareMaestro Limited in 2006 to package and promote the system. ShareMaestro has received very positive reviews in the financial press. For example, in the business section of the Daily Telegraph, Tom Stevenson said: "ShareMaestro ticks all the right boxes in my holy grail quest."

Glenn Martin has produced an excellent and practical guide here. The contents of the book are clearly laid out and easy to follow - even for someone like me who is not an experienced investor. His straightforward and down to earth approach to taking control of your own financial future is must read for anyone who wants to be more proactive in managing their own investments.

As pensions become ever more pitiful and we all live longer, the time has come for each of us to master our own financial security in retirement. Glenn Martin's book on valuing shares is very timely. In it he strikes a balance between easily understood technical explanations and practical advice. Paying financial advisors can cut your returns on your money to a fraction of what you could potentially achieve by cautiously switching backwards and forwards between blue chip shares and cash. Years of research into the movement of shares has shown him when to do this. Read this book to find out when. Be prepared to put in some effort but your reward for that could be greater comfort in years to come. Chris Tiernan, Grosvenor Consultancy

Having finished reading this book around a month ago I find myself still picking this up to recap on the various valuation techniques and modest advise offered by Glenn Martin throughout. This is my 9th book on investments and for me personally it will remain top of my pile for a while. Well written and easy to follow, you get the sense that the author is genuinely trying to help you along with your investment decisions.

Highly Recommended.

Excellent book. Shows a simple method of how to value a share or the index. UK based. Does hype the author's software that does this for you. However, he does make it clear you dont need the software and shows you how. A good informative book on a method of valuing shares in companies.
