I have written to BBC Worldwide for an explanation of this, because I feel that we have been short-changed. It would be helpful if all disgruntled reviewers did the same. Privately, I have received word that this is an error or omission - but the packaging explicitly excludes reference to the 'two illustrated booklets' that appears on every other release. As such, this would make it a rather surprising error, and I can't help but thinking that budget for the production might have played an issue here. I can't see why 'haste' would explain matters...the material is nearly 60 years old, who needs to rush this already?

Incidentally, my understanding that there are still 3 compendia to go - to cover the end of the Goon Show proper and the Last Goon Show Of All, plus the genesis of the Goon Show and all the extant pre-fifth series material.

The best comedy team of all time at the peak of their form. Like the other reviewers, I'm disappointed that there are no booklets, but the Goon's reference information is so well documented that the kind of details available in the booklets for the other releases in this series is readily available elsewhere. A bigger moan is the 12 shows not released in this series, which are owned by EMI, but that's another story....

Other than the shows of course I have always looked forward and valued the booklet reference material.
I concur, the booklets should have been produced for completeness for which I would have gladly paid more if production costs are an issue.
Goon fans revolt and submit your own cover notes to the BBC to help them out; I'm sure Spike would support us!
As usual the shows are a perfect example of the best in British humor.

Disc 1 was defective on receipt. I was informed by the seller that the manufacturer refused to acknowledge that this could possibly be the case as the product was shrink wrapped. As well as being overpriced the BBC are now producing shoddy goods which they take no responsibility for.

Just a brief word to anyone who's interested in buying Volume 11 (and if you've come this far you'd have to be a complete Eccles not to): The Amazon preview includes an episode and extras listing, but please note that unless the BBC has finally done a deal with EMI, Compendium 11 will NOT include Dishonoured - Again, The Scarlet Capsule or The Tale of Men's Shirts. Sorry about that.

While the contents of the CDs are, as always, wonderful, and are the reason I buy these Compendia, the booklets are atrocious. The pages are completely out of order. What 12-year-old with a literary ability of zero is responsible for this? The booklets need to be reprinted properly and sent FOC to all purchasers of this Compendium - without delay!
