A fairly good book, all in all. Sets up the background story of Olivia, showing it's childhood and teenage years. We learn why she became an FBI agent and... a few more things. Not yet a true "Fringe" story, this book follows the first one in building the foundations of that world.

Good plot and storytelling, nice tie-ins. As an avid Fringe fan I loved discovering more about the young Olivia.
Looking forward to the next book.

Although knowing the background of Fringe would certainly enhance the story, I thought it was very readable as a stand alone story. This is the better of the spin off books available.
