I am a big fan of maps. They are great, without them you'd be lost! I love all the little symbols that tell you where the important stuff is in your area such as trig-points and pylons etc. You might argue that you don't need a map because in this century we now have phones with apps like google where on earth are we? that tell you where on google earth you are but paper maps don't run out of power or need a signal. OK they might get wet and soggy but getting your phone wet whilst hiking is not good either. Anyway this map comes with a free download of OS map 174 which gets updated as we speak. The only problem I find is that I always seem to be somewhere on the edge of the map. Is this a conspiracy by the map people to get us to buy more maps? All I know from this particular purchase is that there are at least 174 of them. At £19 quid a shot it's gonna cost you at least £3300 to walk this fair and pleasant land known as Blighty! If you like hiking and orienteering etc then this is well worth buying. I just think they could have used a nicer picture on the cover to entice you to but it. Having said that they could have used the M25/A10 junction which is particularly ugly so the calm lake with a tree branch in the way of the lens isn't so bad after all!!
