There are a number of twists and turns with this one, and a fair number of times when I just wanted to shake one of them. (Not telling who - #spoilers!). But overall, this was a really engaging storyline with believable characters.
An entertaining read.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review
I got this book as part of a bundle at a great reduced price.
So because I never paid full price for the book, I feel a bit of a fraud by giving it not the best rating, possible, but hey-ho!
Emma works for Jack - and has done for 5 years.
Jack is a successful millionaire (?) who took over his father's business some years previously.
Emma is his PA, housekeeper, chef - and the role suits her as she has a 5yo little boy called Logan. Emma started working for Jack when she was a few months pregnant, so Jack has been a father figure to Logan in his life.
For the last couple of years, Emma has held a bit of a candle in her feelings towards Jack - but feels like he is out of her league, and because they work close, there is an almost uncrossed line - the taboo of an employer/employee relationship and the exploitation of positions.
In any case, they do get close - then comes the angst element of the story. When Emma first found she was pregnant - her BF and father to Logan - Marcus - wanted to marry her, and on the eve of their elopement, his father the Senator stepped in and bribed Emma with $25k to abort the baby and leave Marcus. She took the money believing it was Marcus' wishes. In the meantime, the Senator tells Marcus that Emma asked him for money and that he should leave her. Marcus believes him and he never sees Emma again.....until Jack hires a hot shot lawyer to be on his team - step forward Marcus, back in Emma's life after 5 years. He knows nothing about Logan.
So Emma's dilemma (!) does she reveal all to Marcus, she absolutely hates the man for what he has done to her.
By now, Jack and Emma are embarking on a a relationship, so she tells him all.
Unbeknownst the Senator has some dirt on Jack and Emma and is hell bent on ruining them both.
So it's the battle of the relationships and how it is all going to work out.
I read it in a day - so it was not a challenging read but I didn't feel anymore fulfilled in reading it than I have with other books.
Also, one chapter Emma's hair is blonde and in the next one it is brown.
Good overall story, but just missed the mark for me
Suitable for adults due to sex scenes.
I love Stacey Lynn, she's the first one to introduce "Tap it Down" looking forward to more..!!
