Ben & Georgia take part in a TV travel challenge in Chile, together with other couples. They have challenges to meet and cameras on helmets they have to wear at all times. The challenges are hard, and the spotlight is really on the relationships and how the couples cope together.
It's a sharp learning curve for Georgia, and not necessarily a good one. Despite the funny episodes, it becomes a struggle for her and Ben. I really felt for them both and worried how it would all resolve itself.
As I said, it is VERY funny though. The fish market will live long in my memory!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
We are back we the lovely Georgia and of course Ben. The two of them are really adorable together in the beginning of the book and their business is going great. It's fab to see them live together, work together and surrounded by their friends.
They have the opportunity to go to Chile with other couples to compete on a TV show, Georgia is of course all for it and manages to convince Ben. Arriving in Santiago makes her dreams come true, until she opens her suitcase. It's not hers and what is inside is actually quite funny. Anyway she has to wear Ben's shirts for now. The challenges are fun to read about and so or the other couples. The more they travel and compete, the more drama actually happens! Oh and let's nit forget the ring she found at home! When is Ben actually going to propose.
The idea with the TV show is a great and unique idea to discover a country and the excitement really comes through in the writing.
It's until the last task that Ben and Georgia actually start fighting. Why hasn't he proposed, why does he want to win the show, why has he met up with his ex etc. This bomb is bound to explode and it does, they have a huge fight and it continues back home. Ben is just gone! Not at work, not at his best friend's, just gone! What now?!
I enjoyed this book from the first word onwards!! It was so great following Georgia around and the excitement was just there. I got learn about a new country and read a fabulous story at the same time. Katy's writing is full of life, passion and heart. There are so many hilarious moments, but then also dramatic and touching ones, the perfect combination! Katy has a very fresh, young, exciting, vivid and bubbly style and then you combine it with travel and there you go a brilliant mixture!
As you can imagine, the whole thing doesn't go as smoothly as they first thought and you find yourself laughing out loud almost non-stop. I really enjoyed reading about the whole experience, especially discovering this new side of Georgia, as part of a couple and of a team. We know that after everything she's gone through, she doesn't trust easily so I was really curious to see how well (or bad) Georgia and Ben worked together.
But the book is not only about the show, Katy Colins takes us to Chile and as usual, she does a great job describing this new place to us (at least new to me, as I've never been there but now I'd love to visit it!). She has a special way of making you picture yourself there, walking in the streets of Santiago or taking selfies with a llama. She also has the power of making me check flights to the other end of the world every time I read one of her books. She certainly knows how to spark my wanderlust.
Destination Chile is another winner by Katy Colins. It's full of surprises, laughs and craziness but it also has a more serious part that balances the story perfectly. If you haven't met Georgia Green yet, you are missing out.Read more ›
