2.0 out of 5 stars Probably better off sticking with Foresman materials 13 Nov. 2013
By LaLa - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This was really not what I thought I was ordering. The only "instruction" is "Write the letter, then the word!" I guess I was expecting a format where students trace a solid letter, then dotted letter, then write their own with a guided starting dot, then fully on their own. This really just has the letter, then several words beginning with that letter, (and I suppose I should add as a bonus that there is ample room for practice, with lots of blank lines), and a huge full-page picture to color that goes along with an alliterative rhyme for each letter. Also has a section of tear-apart cards with each letter and number, but I'm not sure what purpose they are intended to serve, as they don't appear to be dry-erasable. This would perhaps be a good supplement to writing practice, or something fun for a child who just really loves copywork, but it was not what I was hoping for or expecting, and I will be returning it.

I bought this book specifically for the tear-out alphabet cards. There are none in this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced Coloring Book with a nice pull out section... 11 Dec. 2013
By Amancia Kaushal - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
My favorite part of this book is the pullout middle section that shows the example of how to make each letter. This book could be improved by including rows of traceable letters. This seems to be made for someone who already knows the print. In which case, you wouldn't need this book. We haven't used anything besides the pull out and it will likely become more of a coloring book than anyone else. If you want to find a useful resource for teaching your child D'Nealian, there are FREE PRINTABLES that you can find and print. I printed the entire alphabet and I love the format. Look on Pinterest!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Learning Book for D'Nealian 3 May 2015

An absolutely perfect foundation in D'Nealian manuscript. Samples with individual removable sample cards for each letter and number. Exercises with practice pages.
4.0 out of 5 stars Paper is a bit thin, so if they work ... 29 Aug. 2015
By Lou Collins - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Paper is a bit thin, so if they work on both sides, as they should, there is a bit of visual interference from the backside of the page.
