I purchased this book for my 9 year old son. I was looking for a book that was more than a 'How to sketch' book, well I wasn't disappointed, this book is definitely more that that, its totally brilliant. When you sit and flick through the pages you feel like you want to start to create some of the projects yourself, lots of projects using different art materials, with plenty of hints, tips and techniques, explanations of materials etc. You cannot fail to be impressed by this book weather you are a budding or an accomplished artist, you'll be hard pressed find another 287 pages of creativity for the money...Right now where are my paints, scissors, cardboard?..........

I am a primary school teacher and the school Art Club teacher. I can honestly say this book has been fantastic. I use it every week and children and colleagues love to look through it for ideas. I would really recommend it. Don't waste time trawling the internet for ideas any longer, sit down with your coffee and have a browse through. I am sure you will be inspired!
A plus point: The language is relatively kid friendly, I even get the children to read the instructions sometimes before we begin and we also use the pictures in the book as a reference point before adapting it to suit if we wish.

I gave this book four stars because I only skimmed through it before deciding it was suitable for an eleven year old who is going for an art scholarship. According to her family, I should have given it five. She loved it and they loved it because it kept her fully absorbed for the duration of Christmas - no mean feat! I studied art myself and wish this book had been available to me. In fact, I almost kept it because, despite my seventy three years, I still love to learn and this book could teach me so much. It is a treasure trove of information, full of colour, inspiration and exercises all wrapped up in a high quality hard cover which will stand the test of time and usage for many years to come. Your kids will enjoy; you enjoy!

If you are a Primary School teacher and stuck for ideas, not too sure about activities that will fulfil all the various art curriculum requirements or if you are unsure what to do with certain media then this is the book for you. Very useful and fun to do with something for Foundation to Year 6. Children enjoy doing these things and the activities can be adapted and changed - its the ideas and methods that are useful. Originally this was 3 separate books but has been reprinted as one volume - much easier to store on the shelf.

When I started to look at these Usborne art books on Amazon it was difficult to decide which one to get. After purchasing a few of them as gifts I have realised that this one combines three of the other books: "Art Ideas", "Art Skills" and "Art Projects". All the books are excellent, but getting three in one is great value too.

The book is packed with lots of fun projects which are all broken down into stages. I have completed several projects with my 5 year old daughter, although she has needed quite a lot of help. There are a wide range of projects, some of which require more advanced skills in drawing and painting so this book would also be suitable for much older children.

I bought this art book for my nephews for Christmas on the recommendation of a friend and read it and used it before passing it on. It is 3 books in one giving not just an ideas section but a tuition in art skills and projects. It's really for all ages and the adults will love it too! Worth every penny and cheap at half the price.
