About the Author

Born in 1956, Harry Karis's first encounter with wine occurred when he played guitar in a rock and roll band in the mid 70s, enjoying 'more or less' good wine at a young age. In the early 80s he opened a restaurant with his wife Josi and became increasingly fascinated by the world of fine wine. This was the begining of a long and infinitely pleasurable journey.

Handy and very accurate map of wineries. Came in very handy on my recent trip to Chateauneuf du Pape! Must have.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not enough in it 19 July 2010

First of all, this is not a book. It is a map. It shows were the Chateauneuf de pape vinyards are, but gives no other information about them. We were diappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chateauneuf du Pape book review 10 Sept. 2009
By J. Bauer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Map
This is an outstanding reference work that details how wine is made in Chateauneuf du Pape. It covers the influence of climate, soil, and winemaking, while also giving nice histories of EVERY winery in Chateauneuf du Pape!In fact, over 300 pages of this mammoth work cover each individual winery, their histories, where they are, what wines and cuvees they make, and what parts of Chateauneuf du Pape they own vineyards in. This book should be in the library of anyone interested in the Rhone Valley and covers all the new wine making trends of the last decade, including the emergence of several small new wineries and luxury cuvees. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the region!
