"Leon Chaitow shows how to detect the effect of Candida Albicans and provides a comprehensive, drug free program for its control."

"What I appreciate most is the author's emphasis on non-drug therapies to support reclaiming a healthy internal environment. He uses the latest research and his own clinical experience to show how to detect whether yeast is the problem behind your ills." --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

From the Back Cover

Candida albicans is a yeast which exists inside all of us and normally presents no problems, but today’s widespread use of broad spectrum antibiotics, contraceptive pills and steroids, as well as a sugar-rich diet, can cause a proliferation of this parasite yeast.

Its spread can often be the root cause of a wide variety of problems – ME/chronic fatigue syndrome; depression; anxiety; irritability; diarrhoea; bloatedness; heartburn; tiredness; allergies; acne; migraine; cystitis; menstrual problems, etc. Leon Chaitow shows how to detect whether yeast is your problem, and provides a comprehensive and non-drug programme for its control.

LEON CHAITOW, osteopath, naturopath and acupuncturist, is a leading international practitioner and successful author of a wide range of health books.

I have read the book and have been on the diet for a week now. The book is very informative and useful. There are many natural anti fungal and anti bacterial supplements and remedies to choose from so you have a wide range of products to choose depending on the availability of the products around your area.

I clearly can't tell how effective the diet is as I have been on it for a week now, but I will update my review every 2-3 weeks if I notice great changes, the reason why I have bought this book is because I have had recurrent thrush, yeast infections and other type of infections as well as depression for the past 2 years. I have been to doctors a lot but they all give me the same anti fungal drugs and antibiotics which don't solve my problem and just temporarily make my infections go away (they keep coming back even stronger than before each time!) So I've decided to go for the natural way of healing myself and this book is a GREAT guide for me.

-------

One month later:

I am feeling much better after being on the diet. I have completely stopped eating yeast and other sugar products, and I am regularly taking my natural antibiotics and antifungals. The physical difference is that I have a great body now (the purpose of the diet wasn't really getting flat abs, etc. however I did lose weight and I look much better). Around 2-3 weeks after being on the diet, I had some candida-die off symptoms like headache, constantly being tired and thrush (all these are mentioned in the book). However, now I don't have any die off symptoms that I know off. I am very glad to have purchased this book. I am generally happier and more energetic. I do suggest this book to anyone who suffers from candida symptoms. However, it is worth mentioning that this book is not the only source of information I use throughout my diet (I have 3 other books on this subject, but in general I found this book the most useful one). Good luck everyone!

I was amazed how many other illnesses are related to candida. i have suffered with cronic joint pain for years which would flare up at any time. because of reading this book i stopped eating and drinking foods that candida thrives on. I found by excluding different foods from my usual diet that my main culprits for causing me my joint pain was caffeen and suger. within one week of starting my cleanse diet i was free of the worst pain..and within 3 weeks i was" totaly free of all joint pain" and i havent needed any of my pain killers since i read the book. months are passing by and still no joint pain at all. the candida problem is getting better day by day now too. I have lost nearly a stone and a half too so thats a bonus..

This book is very good for some fundamental knowledge about Candida. It does not have any recipes though, but is concise and small so can be carried if you e.g. travel.

Valuable advice.

This book told me quite a few things that I didn't know. Eg that grains can cause thrush. Very enlightening book, tells things simply in black and white.

This book is slightly underwhelming and I was disappointed. Iriginally written in 1985, this version was updated in 2003, but you can tell it's not cutting edge. There are other books that include more recent research and symptoms. It's good for those who don't know anything about Candida though I'd say save yourself the money and do a Google search. Wouldn't recommend this to my friends.

Well written, lucid and non sensationalised account of perhaps the major health threat in modern times, unrecognised still by most GPs. A must read for anyone with health problems of almost any kind.

The second part, which deals with diets though, seems to me too tough a regime for most people. Take heart though, there are cures out there, and not every authority says that the rigorous Candida Diet is necessary.

Fascinating and eye-opening stuff. A great resource.
