Review

"Probably the most popular detective duo since the passing of Reginald Hill’s Dalziel and Pascoe." (SHOTS magazine)

"I’ll make a prediction now – Wild Chamber will be in my top five books for 2017. Bryant and May continue to be at the top of their game, and in some ways the novels are improving with age . . . there’s no author quite like Christopher Fowler, and there are no characters quite like Arthur Bryant and John May. There are a multitude of facets to Wild Chamber which make it stand out . . . Fowler is London born and bred, and his love for the city and all its eccentricities clearly comes through in the narrative. ." (CRIMEFICTIONLOVER)

"A joy to read. It's intelligent crime fiction that’s accessible to everyone." (CRIMEPIECES)

"Delightfully entertaining . . . I for one, think this is incredibly clever. Fowler richly deserves his CWA Library Award." (THE BOOKBAG)

Book Description

The fourteenth novel in Christopher Fowler's gloriously inventive, imaginative series featuring detectives Arthur Bryant and John May and the Peculiar Crimes Unit is a treat for readers as murder and scandal lead the team to delve into the history of London's wild spaces, it's parks and gardens . . .

Bryant & May - I love this series of books. Very well written, lovable characters, interwoven with interesting history of London, an absolute delight. I hope Arthur & John and the gang continue for a very long time. The only series of books I pay £10 for on Kindle.

The latest in a long line of books featuring the octogenarian detectives Bryant and May. As with all of the others they are brilliantly written and a perfect mixture of drama and comedy. The humour is at times a little black and very British in its base. I sometimes feel that for me the actual case is of secondary importance. I just love the interactions and verbal sparring amongst the unit members and it is this that really makes the books for me. Having said that the cases are well thought out and planned. They are never easy to work through and I rarely get to the result before the big reveal. Maybe I'm just not that good at it. Anyway, brilliant book a must read for anyone, especially those who normally don't do crime books.

Wow I can't believe I'e got this far without revealing that the murderer was....

This is a fantastic read! I couldn't put it down and I was really 'upset' when I got to the end. The story, characters, language and history of London are beautifully crafted into one of the best Bryant & May stories yet. I can't wait for the next instalment. They would make a terrific TV series but they would be bound to make Bryant too 'tidy'.

Another wonderful journey into the London of Bryant and May. So good for the spirit it should be on the NHS.

This is the best book in this wonderful series. Love all the information on gardens, historical personages and zany antics of the staff.
