Review

I just love this concept - our world from the dogs' point of view. Dogs are dogs; they do doggy things and see (hear and smell) the world very differently from us. Sadly, all too often, dogs are punished for being 'bad' when they simply didn't appreciate the human way, understand the house rules, or perceive the instructions. Karen's well-written, beautifully illustrated, unique and fascinating book is a must-read for all dog-interested people. Your dog will thank you for it. (Ian Dunbar PhD, BVetMed, MRCVS Founder, Association of Professional Dog Trainers)

Karen is the wisest professional dog person i know. If people were animals in former lives, she was definitely canine. (Emma Freud)

Karen has a unique understanding of the canine mind...if you are contemplating getting your first dog, I can't recommend her book enough. (The Daily Mail)

Just started to read through this book, which is interesting, entertaining and fun to read. This is giving me a greater understanding of why my dogs do certain things e.g. one places dog biscuits in front of the hoover, page 180 explains that the lunge forward and then retreat can be interpreted as a threating form of behaviour so maybe 'Brillo' is trying to get on the hoovers good side! Looking forward to reading more.

This is a marvellous book - dense in factual information and up to date science, covering a broad range of topics and summarising them to give a great overview of our current thinking about dogs. Beautifully and clearly illustrated so not such a heavy read as some other books out there, I'd say this was suitable for older children as well as enthusiast or new dog owners, and will be buying this for a few people this Christmas!

This book has managed to achieve the holy grail of being both accessible and genuinely good quality...... It is based on 'proper science' and the author is clearly a significant expert in their field but, at the same time, it is an absolute joy to read and will fascinate any dog lover by offering a real (and fun!) insight into the world of a dog.

Really disappointed as I was looking forward to this book but after downloading found the book to be in an illegible format. It had not been formatted for kindle but looked more like a scanned page from a copier and I needed to pan around constantly to move to the part of the sheet I wanted to read. Found this to be impractical after a few minutes and got a refund.

If you have a dog - or are thinking about getting one - you should buy this book. I found it informative, insightful and genuinely very helpful. An excellent book that has already made a big difference in our home. More tail wagging, less barking! :)
