Milton Jones has taken 'the Goons' and 'Round the Horne' and taken them to a brilliant new level of silliness, strangeness and fun. This is a CD which can be listened to many times as you discover new puns and jokes subtle enough to miss the first time. My whole family enjoys this, from the children who can't believe a grown-up can be this absurd - to my husband who normally hates radio comedies. A good CD to have in the car.

This incarnation of the Milton Jones radio show carries on the tradition of reasonably fast, well-paced puns particularly, but also some reasonably good one-liners. And that is more or less it -- the plots and other characters are essentially there to give some form and structure to the gags.

He does this well, of course, and so this is not a criticism. I do miss a little, though, some of the other forms of gags which he does well, e.g. the musical numbers which are a highlight of the stage show. They are genuinely funny too, and provide a sometimes much-needed change of pace.

Milton Jones is the king of surreal one-liners and terrible puns. It's just the sort of humour I really enjoy, and lo, I really enjoyed this. He knows when to stop and let the audience work it out for themselves, he knows when is best to just fling a terrible pun or absurd misunderstanding out there and let us deal with it. There's a tiny bit of material recycled in his live tour, but that's probably only three or four things.

Each episode has essentially the same characters, doing different jobs and getting into different situations. It's almost a Simpsons-like approach to the episodes, where Milton Jones (the character) starts out with a particular job and theme of joke, but it quickly drifts off into something else as the plot bends and twists to supply the pun-making scenarios. It makes the show easy to step in and out of if you're listening in the car (But I wouldn't step in and out of the car when you're listening to it, especially if you're driving)

I can't wait to listen to more!

The medium of radio suits Milton Jones well. His surreal one-liners translate well into these mad playlets. This reviewer doesn't know for sure, but strongly suspects that one of Milton's influences is "The Goon Show".

If your a fan of this kind of radio comedy, it's well worth a listen.

I NORMALLY GO FOR THE OLDER RADIO COMEDY , AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED "HANCOCK"TAKES SOME BEATING, ALTHOUGH , FOR ME SOME OF THE NEWER STUFF IS VERY GOOD AS WELL, CLARE IN THE COMMUNITY A VERY GOOD LISTEN. ANY WAY BACK TO "ANOTHER CASE OF MILTON JONES" I THINK IT'S BRILLIANT . NOT RUN OF THE MILL STUFF, VERY FUNNY, AND SUITABLE FOR ALL AGES INCLUDING THE VICAR. I KNOW IT'S DOWN TO TASTE , AND IN MY FAMILY I AM ON MY OWN, BUT IF YOU HAVE A GOOD/SILLY SENSE OF HUMOUR YOU WILL LIKE IT, HONEST.GOT MY COPY FROM AMAZON, THEY DON'T DISAPPOINT DO THEY.
