Product description

The Seagull M4 Natural Spruce SG is a ukulele type instrument inspired by the Dulcimer. Fun, compact and easy to play, this portable 4 string diatonic instrument is designed to introduce people of all ages and abilities to music. Strongly inspired by the classic Appalachian Dulcimer, the M4 features diatonic frets, with the intervals following the notes of the major scale, rather than the usual chromatic fretting. This simple fret pattern makes the M4 an exceptionally fun and easy instrument to learn for all players. The M4 has a solid Spruce top and 3 piece Rock Maple body, giving it a rich and vibrant tone with excellent projection. It also features a ''moustache'' style Tusq® bridge and compensated Tusq® saddle for improved clarity and sustain, along with vintage-style open geared tuners and a Satin Oil finish.  Specifications Nut Width: 1.280" Top: Solid Spruce Body: Rock Maple, string-through body Neck: Rock Maple, drive-through neck design Bridge: Tusq® by Graphtech Saddle: Compensated Tusq® by GraphTech Finish: Satin Oil Finish

Fantastic instrument whether you are a beginner or professional. It is fretted in the diatonic scale, which means that it plays in any key as long as it is D major. The limitations are what make it fun for a seasoned player. Godin has taken the Appalachian dulcimer and turned it into a guitar of sorts.

Bought it for my son and now thinking of buying one for myself as well.

An excellent addition to my instrument collection....a must have. This is something that you probably need to have recommended to you, otherwise you might walk past it thinking Nah! Plays in D, and limited to that, great sound though....I'm thinking banjo, banjolele, sitar even!
