Ok it has no input for an mp3 player, just an SD/Multimedia card slot and a usb port for flash drives, but I'm using a card so that's fine for me. It does browse through folders, but the limited instructions say to use the play button to select items ... if I do that it crashes, however if I use the menu button to select items it works just fine, so no problem once you know. One other thing to note is the repeat menu, which would more accurately be called playback mode as it encompasses much more than just repeat.
Mine also stores all settings including the broadcast frequency, so no need to set it up every time I start the car and it resumes playback from where it left off. The remote works fine as long as you point it straight at the player lol.
Build quality is fine, it's better looking in the flesh than it looks in pics and not at all tacky. It is also very small, but the screen is plenty large enough and very bright with good clear text and graphics.
As for the sound quality, well it is truly a match for my cars cd player or radio, it sounds amazing, regardless of the price and there is no background noise or interference either.
What can I say, it cost me £5.24 including delivery from TCT (based in UK) and took 2 days to arrive. I'm well pleased and can't recommend this thing enough :)
So i have a regular Ford Focus with its factory fitted CD6000 system. There are no front facing inputs so an FM transmitting device was my best option. I went for this based on price and reviews.
I'm pleasantly suprised in a few ways, worried in others.
Its way smaller than i imagined but its not really a negative. The unit is about 2 inches across but screen is clear and well layed out. Mine did have a screen protector (as did the remote) but on removing it the screen had a scuff across pretty much all of it, like its been slid on the floor on its front. Not great, but its not noticable in use. The remote is dire and works only if i point it right at the sensor from within 10 inches or so. While trying to remove the remotes protective cover the edges of the button panel kept folding inside the edges of the casing. Its like its made of paper! Anyway, its pretty pointless having to hold it within 10 inches of the unit, i may as well just press the units buttons myself... This could be a crappy battery though so i will be swapping that out to see if it improves. Standard CR2032 battery is used and easily changed with the slide in/out battery caddy.Read more ›
I bought this months ago and use almost every time i am driving.
Its such a cheaper option than getting a new stereo system in my car that will allow me to listen to my music from a sd memory card or Micro sd card (phone memory card fitted into a sd memory card adapter) other than the old style compact discs.
All you have to do is find a empty frequency on your car radio system and then plug in the unit and tune it to the same frequency and your music will come through your car speakers. The slot for the memory card is along the front bottom edge of the unit.
The fact that you just load up which ever tunes you desire onto a memory card through your Pc laptop or even tablet, then slot that in and turn on your radio to listen to your music makes it so easy to use. I have a couple of memory cards which have different playlists on as its easier than trying to search through the songs whilst driving. The remote does work but find you have to hold the remote very close to the unit to be able to use the functions on it other than use the dedicated buttons on the unit itself.
I Have also found that you do get a slight buzzing in between the tracks but its not really off putting and this generally depends on the volume so fiddle with the volume on the unit itself and your main car stereo system volume to find the right balance for you. There are also times when driving that you get some interference from other stations especially as i live in London with all the illegal broadcast stations but generally you get a clear of this interference within a few minutes.
A handy aspect to this unit is it will remember where you were in the listing and start from the beginning of that track the next time you plug it in.Read more ›
