5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended 30 Dec. 2016

Verified Purchase
I purchased this item after seeking a PTT mic to use for Zello. After inquiring with the manufacturer before this item was launched, I was kept informed by the head of the company every step of the way. What great service!

The item arrived and I'm very happy with its performance. The audio is loud and clear, and the optional second PTT button works very well. I highly recommend this item.

5.0 out of 5 stars You never experience Zello until you tried it with the AIN! 16 Dec. 2016

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! I have an iPhone so I can take advantage of the dual-PTT buttons. i use one for whoever I talked ot last and the 2nd button for our operations center, a direct line. It comes in very handy with storm chasing and being in the fire department.

I have also used this during a fire call. I was ontop of our engine with the diesel pump running and the truck throttle almost full blast (we were using a deck gun) and I was able to hear the operations center clear as day, and they could hear me too. I tried calling in over my handheld radio and I couldn't understand 1 word they said, and all they heard was a mumbled voice. I called in with the AINA and boom, we had crystal clear comms in id say 100dB noise, maybe 105dB.

the battery lasts a good 48 hours in my use, and the handy USB charger is great for when I am in my storm chase car, I can plug it into a USB outlet and it chargers while I use it!I would never use Zello without this!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good speaker microphone for Zello 6 Dec. 2016
By Nick Carrigan - Published on Amazon.com
I ordered mine directly from the manufacturer, Aina Wireless. It definitely feels like a professional product. The fit and finish from a physical standpoint is very good. Its physical feel in the hand is a little disappointing. This is subjective but it feels too flat and not like any hand microphone that I've ever used. The PTT switch is solid but a bit awkward at times. I think a traditional hand microphone design would have been better. Anyone that has used one for a period of time knows that the quality of the PTT switch is really what counts.

The device works fairly well with Zello and my iPhone 7 Plus. I used it exclusively with the Zello application for iOS. I ran into one issue where if I powered off/on the device then the Zello app would act a bit odd upon reconnecting via Bluetooth. I tried killing the Zello app and re-launching but that didn't work. The only workaround was to re-pair the device with iOS and and re-launch Zello.

My biggest gripe was that the mic audio quality (thru the Zello app) wasn't up to expectations. I was hoping the audio would be more like a BT headset but it wasn't close to that. It sounded hollow and robotic. Everyone knew when I was on the Aina mic.

The Aina mic is great if you want to save battery power on your phone while using Zello. It definitely will make your iPhone battery last longer but at the expense of your audio quality.

The only other complaint would be the cost of this device. It's a bit high for the average consumer. I think Aina could help grow their name brand if they could cut the cost in half.
