From the Publisher
An absorbing, fast-paced thriller which has a modern technological theme - cyberbullying.
Will keep even reluctant readers hooked.
Thought-provoking book which covers many serious issues in a very accessible way.
About the Author
Simon Packham read drama at Manchester University. He was a stand-up comedian
and then an actor for twenty years (if you didn't blink you might have caught him on
The Bill, or standing next to Dame Judy Dench in a mask) before becoming a writer.
He has published four previous books with Piccadilly, all about children who attend
the fictional St Thomas's Community College. He is married to a headmistress, and has two teenage children who both give him invaluable advice on his writing.

Ultimately, it is very life affirming. It is a MUST READ book for any school age person - and their parents. Fast moving and full of colour, Nick Hornby would be proud to have written this book.
Then, a few months back, some old family friends put me on to this book and my eyes were gently opened. I was gripped from the start, feeling a kindered spirit in the lead character and sympathising with his dreadful reversal in social fortunes. True, this is a work of fiction; the whodunnit plotline leaves us in no doubt of that. However, I can't say enough about Packham's appreciation of how electronic media can be used to perpetuate bullies' sardonic messages and how that can exacerbate these messages among children who wish to tag along with them. I think this is an important book for anyone above the age of 10 to read, whether or not they are a parent and/or work with children. It is an encapsulation of a relevant and growing social problem among teenagers that needs to be addressed.
For me it had uncomfortable resonances of experiences at the hands of school bullies during my own youth; but, despite the dark subject matter, it is a witty and entertaining book; and it reminds those of us who have been bullied that we ourselves may have been part-time bullies, too.
The sections concerning the schoolboy main character Samuel's grandfather which run through the book complement the storyline, rather than being a tiresome distraction from it.
This book should be included, as a matter of urgency, on reading lists for secondary school pupils.
He was utterly enthralled at the story, the characters and how everything fitted together. While he reads a lot, I have rarely heard him say just how much he loves a book, and this was one. If you have a 12-15 year-old, buy them this book!
My first impression of the book, to be honest, was that it looked like it would be all about `boys-stuff' and that I wouldn't perhaps enjoy it. I was wrong!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book because it was a quick yet detailed read; I read it between two days or performances whilst on tour and didn't want to put it down.
Some of my favourite things about the book were:
*The way it was set out and read like a diary
*The really surprising and dramatic ending
*The way it was written was very convincing as it was written using the kind of language my friends and I might use
When writing reviews at school we often say what we would change about the book if we had the opportunity. In this case I would maybe explain a bit more about the Grandad's story by means of background as it was a bit confusing. Apart from that, the book was really good.
I would definitely recommend this book to my friends. But if I had to say what ages the book is for, I would say between the ages 11-14.
I will happily read and review your next book!!
