How to choose a chopping board?
• Glass, rubber, and marble are all used for chopping boards but the most widely-used materials are plastic and wood.
• If you’re looking for eco-friendly materials, bamboo is a popular option. It also makes for cheap wooden chopping boards as it’s a lower priced alternative to hard wood varieties.
• Plastic is lauded fantastic by many for its lightweight qualities (handy if there’s lot of chopped-up stuff to slide into a pot), ability to withstand a dishwasher’s high cleaning temperatures and contamination-busting colour-coding capacity.
• Wood also scores well with hygienists and is pretty cutting edge when it comes to maintaining knife blade sharpness.
