This is annoying and futile rubbish, based on apparent murders/killings that have been included in Stephen Kings stories. I though, did not recognise any one of them, even when one of the 'actors' described in which book the killings had apparently occured.

Dire film and even worse, most of the Stephen King references were from books I have not read. Gave up about half way through and ended up fast forwarding through it.. Can not recommend this film and was actually glad when everyone started getting killed off

Six young cleavage infested adults travel to Maine to have some fun and to meet Stephen King. While they are there they meet people who are similar to characters in the King novels. As the kids are killed off one by one, the film becomes a whodunnit that doesn't live up to its potential.

I kept waiting for the film to get good as it started out with great potential. It wavered between a slasher film and a spoof, never finding its groove. The dialouge never made it. The whole boating scene was a waste.

Works as a rental. My sister loves Stephen King and opted to keep this film rather than return it after I loaned it to her.

My sister is a big Stephen King fan and she loved this film.

Parental Guide: F-bomb in music. No sex. Brief black and white photo nudity. Male rear nudity.

I had high hopes for this movie but it's absolutely terrible. Poor acting and an even worse storyline. I can't believe I actually bought it. Low budget movie I wouldn't even rate as a B Movie

Don't wast your hard earned money buying this, I should have know it would be rubbish if Stephen King was involved.

Comes across as TV movie that is extremely low budget and fails to be classed as a ‘B’ Movie, as previous viewers have commented the idea is great it just does not work in this film at all. I didn’t recognize any of the deaths from the books and it came across as a poor parody rather than a horror film. But you get what you pay for, it was cheap and will the cover is good.

Shame about this movie... it could have been quite good, but it isn't.

For a low budget movie, "You Can't Kill Stephen King" does have reasonable production values, along with what could best be described as a good 'idea' for a movie.
But unfortunately, that good idea is used up in the first few minutes of this movie, and nothing worthwhile follows on from it; as it quickly becomes obvious that the movie isn't going to maintain the spoof level it started with, and neither is it going to progress onto being a reasonable horror movie.
Apart from the characters believing that "Stephen King lives somewhere around here", it certainly never delivers any easily identifiable homages to the author, his books, or his movies. And don't be fooled into thinking you are going to see more of the King-related images depicted on the DVD cover artwork !
And dare I say ?... even the three reasonably attractive lead actresses couldn't stop me from quickly becoming very bored with this movie !!

I appreciate that ‘slasher’ films have become a bit ‘old hat’ these days. Most B-movies in the genre don’t even try to come up with anything more original than some masked loon stalking and murdering a bunch of over-sexed teenagers. However, with ‘You Can’t Kill Stephen King’ at least the makers tried to do something a little different.

For a start, they injected a little humour into the film. If you’re looking for a straight horror, you won’t find it here. It’s definitely black comedy-horror all the way. They also try and play on the obviously clichés and conventions you’d expect to find within this type of film and go some way to turn them on their heads and exploit them.

For all that, the film is actually quite enjoyable, as a group of teens travel off the beaten path in small-town America in an attempt to track down their icon, none other than Stephen King himself. However, as you might expect, they start falling victim to an unseen assailant. And here lies the main problem... you can subvert a few clichés and add a bit of humour, but what you’re left with is a pretty run-of-the-mill slasher film. Although some parts of it are fun, it still doesn’t succeed in being different enough to really raise it above the thousands of similar movies (some of which are played straight, others not).

So, despite all the good intentions, all you have is an average slasher movie. If you’re really desperate to see what is little more than a ‘modern Friday 13th type film’ then give this one a go, or if you’re a die-hard fan of Stephen King you should enjoy all the homages to him. But, ultimately, there’s not enough that’s new here to really recommend this film over the countless others like it.

A very generous 3/5 - probably more of a 2.5

What a load of old rubbish! I gave it 2 stars for trying, but the story just did not do it for me and I was bored after about half-an-hour of it. I watched it through, but cannot recommend it.
