I have read a few books by Krishnamurti and seen a few DVD's, I think the man was incredible.
This book to me though is the easiest to understand. More than any other material I have read or seen, I have understood 'concepts' such as "choiceless awareness", and the understanding of non-judgement of thoughts for example are clear.

Not much anyone can say that will do justice to this mans awareness of existence, from my perspective certainly he was the greatest mind not to have his words turned into a religion. He was as great as Buddha and Lao Tzu, but the words have not been changed, and aren't filled with dogma and unnecessary history lessons.

We can become pretty illuminated just by reading this book and applying what he says into our own lifes perceptions.

I have read many of Krishnamurti's books over the past 20 years, from the earliest written in 1928, and enjoyed them all. This book however has the most profound impact as he slowly takes you through to the core of his teachings. Rather than just read it you need to do as he asks and experience the journey with him by doing as he asks. The more you follow this request the deeper you will go into the core of his work and "your" world, it really is transformational. At the end you wonder what next as a new world opens up. He simply answers the most profound questions with a question and invites you to discover for yourself what is true for you. When I remember the dialogue between Bohm and Krishnmurti I am still taken aback by the speed he drops a point of view and starts somewhere else, leaving Bohm to gasp as he catches up. If this is the only book you buy it would be worth it if you want to understand what it is to be alive.

If you want to read a non-fiction book that gives a different way of looking at life, get this book.
Ps the author offers no miracle 'cures' to life's difficulties, no miracle methods to become 'more spiritual."

this is very philosophical....and more abstract than Heideger; but still a vision for lifeways. Reminds me of Ghandi and his messages to humanity

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my top all-time reads.... 3 Dec. 2009

I've read many books on philosophy, religion, and spirituality. For me, Krishnamurti stands out as one of the most penetrating and lucid thinkers of all. He doesn't ask for any religious buy-in or adherence to any doctrine. Instead, he invites the reader to inquire into the nature of things along with him.

Most of Krishnamurti's books are transcripts from talks that he offered to the public over the years. I came to appreciate this as it includes questions from real listeners -- there's a sort of honesty and groundedness that results.

The book is not that long (less than 200 p.), but be prepared to take your time to really process these pages!

This book was life-changing for me -- highly recommended.
