Kasun London creates inspired jewellery that can be playful, sometimes quirky, and always beautiful with an edge. Their intricately designed and expertly crafted collections are based around the people they know and the things in life that interest and inspire them, offering jewellery that tells a story.
Founded by friends Kasun Ekanayake and Chad Smith, the brand was launched in the summer of 2012 and has since gone on to be nominated for the UK Jewellery Awards 2013 ‘New Designer of the Year’, winner of the Lonmin Design Innovation Award 2013 and was listed in Professional Jeweller’s Hot 100 NEXGEMS 2013.
The brand is also building a celebrity following with Jessie J, Tess Daly, Katy B, and Ellie Goulding all wearing pieces from the range.
Kasun London’s latest collection ‘God Loves Fangs’ is a modern, fresh take on contemporary urban accessories and jewellery, and features womenswear, menswear, and unisex pieces made of 18ct Yellow Gold vermeil, Sterling Silver and intricately cut Onyx. The collection takes inspiration from Vampires and the mythological ideas that surround these tales.
Kasun London’s co-founder and Creative Director has nearly a decade of design experience in the jewellery industry. Born in Sri Lanka, and growing up in Auckland, New Zealand, he studied Industrial Design at university before securing an internship with a fine jewellery company in Auckland, before moving onto a jewellery designer role where he designed for New Zealand fashion brands such as Karen Walker Jewellery and Stolen Girlfriends Club.
He moved to the UK in 2007 where he became the Head Designer for Leeds based brand Azendi. It’s in Leeds that he met friend and business partner Chad Smith. In 2011 Kasun moved to London where he set up a design consultancy and secured clients including UK jewellery wholesaler HD Group, designing their latest collections which are sold throughout the UK and internationally. In the summer of 2012 Kasun London was launched, since then the brand has gone on to achieve industry recognition and a strong customer following.
