Hi Helena
In order to be scientific(?) I've just filled one with water, put the lid on as tight as possible, turned it upside down and shaken it. It leaked.

I have not put mine in a dishwasher yet. I have, however, used them to store pasta sauce etc. And I make it a point to wash them as soon as they're empty. So far they're not stained. :) Still nice and clean.
