I think this Cable is fine, but a Cat 6 would probably give you more speed. Also it depends on your Hub and connection speed. I'm using it to connect a Bluray to the internet and it works OK. No problems.

I dont know the humax freesat box in detail but just checked the literature and it states you can connect it to the internet. So if there's a cat5 type socket on it and a spare socket on your router, I imagine it would work. The cable is under £3 so even if it doesn't work, its worth a try.
