However I have read a forum reply that says that some flashguns are compatible but only the centre contact is used so there is no through-the-lens exposure control. Also in manual flash mode, the camera doesn't know that there's a flash attached but you can fix this by popping up the built in flash, and the camera will adjust the screen's exposure to show a brighter view, but then you have to use the menu to turn off the flash and push the built in flash back down to shoot. Not very convenient. I have various external flashguns including a compact Fuji EF20 which does not look too big for the Sony but I have been loath to try this out in case it damages the RX100 circuits. I would be interested in any other feedback on this. see less

The Battery is charged in camera, it does last a long time on a charge. Use camera as a charger and alternate them, always keeping the spare fully charged . Easy to remove and install.

Answer:
Not sure but at least 3 metres perhaps more. Recommend "Photographers Guide to the Sony RX100 11" by Alexander White from Amazon uk . Excellent book on this camera.
