Dual core. Day to day tasks you are unlikely to notice, quad core is good for some games and some highly intensive calculations. Vast majority of people wouldn't need quad core.

If you bought it recently it will be "covered" by either the warranty from the manufacturer and/or the retailer who sold it to you. Of course you might need to think about insurance in the event it gets stolen or run over by a bus - therefore the current replacement cost is likely to be the relevant matter.

There are no ultrabooks available in this size that carry a disk drive, there simply isn't the room, some bigger ultrabooks 14" and up come with disk drives.

I think the Series 5 has the touchscreen and the previous model didn't. I never use my touchscreen. It's more of an annoyance!
