I am using the lamp right now, it has been on for about an hour. The only bit of the lamp that has any heat in it is the actual top of the lamp where the lights are and it is warm. The metal part is a bit warmer than the side with the bulbs but it is cooler than the radiators my cat likes to snuggle up to.

Not tall enough to come over monitors, but it is a great lamp. On/off switch is on the power lead.

This lamp gives off a good radius of light. I use it,in living room, for crafts. I think it would be suitable for small kitchen ie., adjust to point at cooker etc. I hope this is helpful.

It is not possible. The operating instructions included with this lamp state 'ENERGY SAVING LED (Cannot be replaced).
