wifi connects to the internet via your home router .3g connects to a mobile network rather like your mobile phone which means you will be able to use it outside your home the 3g version is dearer but you have the option of connecting either way

There isn't an ethernet (RJ45) port on it but after a quick look you are able to do it if you get an ethernet to USB adapter.
